Multiple Teeth Replaced by Dental Implants
Losing multiple teeth causes a big gap in your smile and can lead to major bone loss in your jaw. Dr. Frame may recommend dental implants to replace those lost teeth. Implants are a versatile option that can be used with several types of restorations to better meet your needs.
Using implants to replace multiple teeth with crowns or an implant-supported bridge can restore the function and feel of natural teeth in a way that other treatment options cannot. To place implants, you will need several dental visits with Dr. Frame. At your initial consultation and planning visit, we will take images of your teeth and bone structure, take your dental and medical history, and explain your options. We will plan your treatment in detail to ensure the best possible outcome.
At your next visit, the implants will be placed. The bone will heal and fuse with the implants to create a strong foundation for your new teeth. Most people will heal quickly from this minor outpatient procedure and are able to return to work quickly. You can wear temporary restorations while the bone tissue is healing, a process that can take several months.
Abutments, or small connectors that are attached to the implants, are placed to support the replacement teeth. Once the bone has healed, your crowns or bridges can be attached to the abutments, and your new smile will be ready to show off.
Implants look and feel just like your own teeth. You can use them to eat your favorite foods, and brush and floss as normal. Good dental care can ensure they last and that the supporting tissues remain healthy. Call our office today to learn more or to schedule your appointment with Dr. Frame.
